In our desire to create beautiful interiors, we search for ways of expression. Ornamental plaster provides an interior embellishment which reflects back to a more romantic past. Our hearts reach back to an era where decorated ceilings and walls adorned Europe particularly during the seventeenth through the nineteenth century. Classical architectural detailing has been an inspiration ever since the temples of Greece. Today we look at Classical architecture, admire it in awe, the beautiful proportions, line and ornamentation that flow like words in a poem. We think of it as lost to us as a tool in our design work. Like looking for an unfound love, designers are returning back to the past in using plaster in their work. Architectural Plasterwork is a tradition which appears to have been lost in history and is not much heard of in Nepean. But it is available and produced locally, from standard designs to large scale custom work such as design of ornamental domes, mantels, entrances, ornamental panels or mirrors.
