We pride ourselves in being more
than high quality plaster product producers. Our focus is the end result for our
customers. The knowledge of Classical architecture, ornamental composition and that of
plastering techniques are all necessary as tools to achieve the end result : a
dramatically improved interior space. Why else would you spend money on plaster products ?
We deliver, not plaster products but interior space that provides years of pleasure to our
clients. We deliver detailing which has a track record of creating superior interiors that
become stunning in appeal and provide solid financial return on investment in peoples'
homes and work places.
Our passion is to beautify peoples lives and bring back spiritual energy and character to
building interiors. Our environment affects us and square box homes, mass produced by
builders need the vocabulary of Classical architecture to allow them to harmonise with the
human mind and allow the house to become a home and be as individual as each and every
person is. It is a language worth preserving.
Classical Plaster was established in
1988 with this passion and goal in mind and it remains our driving force in our everyday
work. While people are not necessarily knowledgeable about Classical Architecture which is
the origin of moldings and entitities such as columns, most relate strongly to the
resulting appeal that the proportions directed by the Classical orders convey. We help
guide people with proportions and the use of architectural elements so that our client can
achieve an interior space that has ambience and beauty.
You will find us informal,
passionate and detailed in even the smallest pieces of work. We are a small company that
is big on details and a vision for the end result. Plaster only becomes a necessity when
it takes the form and shape which when removed makes the building look stark, blank and
without structural integrity. The building looks unfinished without it! Hence the
key to using moldings or any architectural elements effectively lies in being detailed
about their use through good knowledge of how they are to be implemented.
On a personal note, I was inspired
into this field during my young childhood days when I lived in Edinburgh Scotland. There,
the 150 year old "New Town" is a legacy of an era of great vision by architects
and town planners. The stone buildings, cobbled streets and beautiful gardens of this
golden age for Scotland presents probably the largest surviving mass of Classical
buildings and homes in Europe. It is a testament to beautiful planning and millions have
enjoyed the accomplishment for over a hundred years and continue to do so today. There is
a spiritual energy that is inherent the minute you walk into the "New Town" of
Edinburgh and an experience that I am endebted to, having lived there many years. In my
own humble ways I like to think I re-create little pieces of Edinburgh because of my love
for the city. Each project no matter how small, is a step on a cobble, down some cobbled
lane in the place I like to call home. Now that my kids have grown up in Nepean and this
is my new home I like to put a few cobbles down to make it homely for myself here. Hence
the origin of the business and the passion for the work I like to involve myself with
everyday.
